Strength in Numbers: GlobeSt.’s WOI Conference Celebrates – and Empowers – Women in CRE

GlobeSt.’s Annual Conference Offers Thought Leadership and Empowerment to Women in Male-Dominated Industry

In late July, more than 300 individuals from across the U.S. converged at the Stein Eriksen Lodge Deer Valley for GlobeSt.’s Women of Influence (WOI) Conference. This event, now in its third year, offered attendees a unique opportunity to gather in beautiful Park City to learn, network, and celebrate one another.

Over the course of three days, attendees heard from (and mingled with) some of the most influential women in real estate. Topics of discussion included:

-The art of successful negotiations

-Acquiring, retaining, and cultivating female talent

-Micro and macro trends impacting CRE

For example, Dianne Crocker, Principal Analyst at LightBox, kicked off the conference by providing a forecast for the remainder of 2022. In her keynote, she discussed the multifamily sector, saying demand will remain high as home ownership costs increase. She also touched on adaptive reuse, noting it is a popular trend impacting multifamily right now.

On top of providing excellent thought leadership, the event excelled at fostering organic connections among attendees by arranging activities such as hiking, yoga, and meditation. This struck a chord with many attendees, including Stefanie Bertcher, SVP of Investor Relations for RMR Residential:

“I particularly enjoyed hearing the expert panels of discussion as well as networking with women from all over the country on the two organized early morning hikes amongst the beautiful Park City mountains. However, my favorite part of the week was simply getting the opportunity to meet so many accomplished women and hearing about their journeys to success. It was an informative and inspirational conference that I look forward to attending again in the future.”

Stefanie, in addition to attending the conference, was recognized by GlobeSt. at the awards dinner for her outstanding work in the Finance Executive category.

With 36.7% of women making up the commercial real estate industry and less than 10% holding C-suite positions, it is worth noting the celebration of women in real estate doesn’t have to stop at GlobeSt.’s WOI Conference. Recognizing women in real estate, giving them opportunities, and valuing their contributions are critical to the industry’s success as a whole.
